I realize it's been a long time since I've done a full blog post, and that's because of my laziness. There is no excuse. So I'm sorry, and I'll try to better. I hope you've been encouraged by the scripture I've been posting recently though. Reading Romans right now, and it just really blows me away. So I'm going to give you a quick update first.
Number one: I am reading The Mark, the eighth book in the Left Behind series, and what I expect to be possibly the most controversial book in the series, due to some stuff I've read about it. I hope not, because I'd be really disappointed if something was completely theologically off. As far as from a writer's point of view goes, it is okay. The series as a whole can get distracted at points, but overall it's okay.
I also just finished Damascus Countdown by Joel C. Rosenberg and loved it. It is truly an amazing book series. This series I've found to be almost flawless, as far as writing goes. There are several things I would've changed, but overall it was amazing and sure to be one of my favorite book series of all time.
So what I really wanted to talk about begins on that note about the Damascus Countdown. So, obviously, you're asking, what am I stoked about?
As anybody who watches the news knows, things seem to be quickly spiraling out of control. I follow Joel C. Rosenberg's blog (
flashtrafficblog.wordpress.com) and can see that the Middle East looks like it's about to explode. In Syria, there's a civil war. Iran is getting dangerously close to getting the nuclear bomb. Egypt's president was taken out of office for the time being, and could start yet another civil war, and all the while Prime Minister Netanyahu is promising he will not allow a second holocaust, and is having peace talks with the Palestinian leaders. Things are happening fast, but as I continue to read my Bible and Christian fiction, I realize more and more the blessed prophecies foretold about the Middle East.
In Isaiah 19, we are told of judgment on Egypt, but also of revival, a passage that has blessed me to no end.
In Jeremiah 49, we're told of the destruction of Iran's (Elam) leaders, and revival for the people.
We're told of the destruction of Syria in Isaiah 17, which will be tragic and terrible, but will no doubt draw more people to Christ.
So, I'm plain stoked, but the greatest part is that it's already happening. In the prophecy about revival in Iran, we're told the people of Iran will be scattered across the earth. This is something that has never happened in all history, but has happened just recently. The Muslim president of Egypt is currently removed from office. Syria is chaotic. It's happening.
In my opinion, the largest proof of the Bible's authenticity as the Word of God is the prophecy it contains. We have already seen so much fulfilled, and more is on the way. Make no mistake, many of these prophecies are prophecies of judgment on the sins of the nation (or in Iran's case, the nation's leaders), but we know our God is a God of justice, judgment and holiness, but also as a God of love, mercy, and grace, and we know that through all this destruction, in the end, it will draw more people to Him.
